Growing your investing business doesn’t always have to be about marketing and lead generation. With the massive increase in technology and platforms available, there are now more ways than ever to grow your business without spending a lot of money. What were once considered auxiliary methods to gain business are slowly gaining traction and becoming staples. You do not need to be extraordinarily tech savvy to utilize these features, but you should know where the market is heading. If you are not focusing on the internet and social media, you are not giving yourself the best possible chance of success.

The most obvious change in the business is in the use of social media and other networking sites. If you haven’t heard of Facebook, you are probably living under a rock. In addition to Facebook, twitter and LinkedIn are the next two biggest sites for your business. The main goal of these is to promote yourself and your business or show off your skills and abilities. Even if you don’t want to directly put yourself out there on these sites, you should be adding links to your personal website or any posts you have contributed on. You may not like these sites or even know exactly how they work, but they are here to stay and an integral part of any growing business.

Even if you don’t use these sites to grow your business, you should know that other people will refer to these before they work with you. They will check to see what you have posted, commented on or shared. If you are an active contributor, they will make note of that and put you in high favor. If you have not posted anything in weeks, they will wonder how in tune with today’s market you are. This may not be fair, but this is the world we currently live in.

In addition to social media, you can use the internet to your advantage. There are many great investing and real estate sites out there that you can network on to meet contacts in your area. You can also use these sites to comment on any blog posts or even better posts videos or blogs yourself. You don’t have to be an expert writer to contribute to most sites. The more you put yourself out there the more that people that are considering working with you will have as a point of reference. Anytime anyone does a search of your name, these posts and comments may come up. If you look like an expert in the field, people will want to work with you.

You can also use your own personal website any way you like. Between video blogs, blogs, podcasts and anything else you can think of, your website is truly a blank canvas to be used any way you like. The more updated the content and information is the more people will come back to your site.

These are just a few of the many small things you can do to add to your business. The more active you are online and through social media, the greater presence you will create. If you consider your business like building a house this is the foundation of which your business should be built on.
